Bulgarian Euro-Atlantic Youth Club has the pleasure of inviting participants to the Forth NATO Summer School – a one-week international seminar focusing on current “NATO challenges and concerns on the eve of 2017 Summit”. The seminar will be held during the period from June 4th to June 10th, 2017 in Smolyan, Bulgaria.
The third NATO Summer School was held in 2016 and has had the honor of hosting several renowned guest lecturers such as diplomats, government officials and specialists from Atlantic Treaty Association, the Bulgarian Euro-Atlantic Youth Club, the Diplomatic Institute to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, the “N. Y. Vaptsarov” Naval Academy in Varna and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This year’s seminar will focus on addressing NATO’s priority actions necessary for Alliance’s adaptation to the new security environment. More specifically, the key topics will include: current security challenges in the Black Sea region, an ongoing migration crisis, Bulgaria’s membership and priorities in NATO, European Security after the Brexit, Terrorism and its new face, NATO-Russia relations after Ukraine, Post-Soviet frozen conflicts, NATO Cyber Defence policy and the role of social media, gender issues within the context of NATO and the Alliance after 2018. Subsequently, we will strive to shed the light on the above mentioned topics through numerous discussions, panel debates and group activities. In particular, the seminar will go through a direct contact between young people, representatives of NGOs, media, representatives of governments, panel discussions, workshops and debates, presented by experts, professors and competitive speakers. Besides attending a number of intriguing lectures, participants are welcomed to take part in fun social activities.
The Bulgarian Euro-Atlantic Youth Club would like to extend an invitation to attend the NATO Summer School 2017 to all young students and professionals, aged between 20-30 years, who have passion for security and defense. For the selected international participants there will be no extra participation fee. Accommodation, food and transport for the organized events will be covered. We are also able to offer travel reimbursements of up to 75 € per person to those selected, provided that participants will choose affordable travel options.
