Fieldtrip 1 Germany/Netherlands Corps – Münster, Germany 22-23 May 2017

Category/Categories: Past Events

We are very excited to announce that we will go on a field trip to the 1 (German/Netherlands) Corps in Münster on May 22-23. Jointly organised by YATA Netherlands and YATA Germany! And it gets even better: you can join us!

The 1 (GE/NL) Corps was established in 1991, its inauguration took place in 1995. For the first time in European history, two existing corps headquarters amalgamated. Münster, the place where the Peace of Westphalia was concluded in 1648, was intentionally chosen as seat of the Corps, because it is an important city in the history of both nations.

The tasks of the 1(GE/NL) Corps included the following: defend NATO territory as unit of the NATO Main Defence Forces; conduct peace operations, operations under the auspices of the UN, as well as humanitarian missions, and carry out national tasks, for instance, disaster relief during floods.

YATA Netherlands and  YATA Germany will visit the 1 GE/NL Corps’ Headquarters in Münster on May 22-23, with an overnight stay on the base. This will allow us to get a unique first-hand impression of the organisation’s history, tasks and the future of this multinational unit.

There will also be plenty of opportunities to engage in a formal as well as informal exchange with the headquarters’ staff, and with our German and Netherlands counterparts of course. Please note: the number of places is limited. Participation is on a “first come, first served” basis, with a priority to members of YATA Netherlands (patrons) and YATA Germany (members).
