WHO WE ARE?

YATA is the youth component of the Atlantic Treaty Association. It represents a network of over 24 YATA National Youth Organizations gathering young professionals, university students and researchers interested in Euro-Atlantic and international security policies.

WHAT WE DO?

YATA is the leading youth network aimed at fostering the transatlantic bond and the values embedded in the North Atlantic Treaty: security, democracy and the rule of law.

YATA draws together young leaders of today and tomorrow while promoting a dynamic youth engagement and transatlantic cooperation in areas of international security and defense through:

  • the enhancement of debate and education within the general population;
  • youth active engagement as opinion makers in the changing security environment;
  • the enhancement of youth visibility and influence in the public debate on transatlantic security issues.

YATA remains instrumental in aligning values from both sides of the Atlantic and promoting international cooperation.

YATA acts as a dialogue forum where national associations can advance common interests and democratic goals by consensus.

YATA seeks to educate and promote cooperation among youth in NATO and Partner countries, to create responsible future leaders committed to the values of the North Atlantic Treaty and with a clear understanding of the today and tomorrow security challenges.

OUR HISTORY

YATA was established during the Atlantic Treaty Association’s General Assembly held in Rome in 1996. The YATA Executive Boards and YATA National Delegations meet yearly at the ATA General Assembly to elect a new Executive Board and develop ideas as well as education and communication strategies. The last simultaneous General Assembly (ATA and YATA) took place in Bucharest, Romania, on September 2018.
